Zapping TV gets ready for its international expansion and looks for strategic investors

Chilean pay TV OTT Zapping TV announced that it is preparing its international expansion with its arrival at Colombia and Peru, and is looking for  strategic investors for this expansion phase.

‘We are working on adding new TV channels and  launching new features within the platform, but we are focused on the arrival at Colombia and Peru, markets where we know that our service will be widely accepted’, said Gustavo. Morandé, CEO at Zapping TV. To face this new general expansion phase, the OTT is currently implementing an investment round. ‘We have the support of investment funds and family offices, but we are looking for investors with experience in the industry, and who will support us in the platform’s regional expansion’, added the executive.

Currently, Zapping TV offers a basic plan in Chile with more than 80 channels, which includes contents from Fox, Discovery, Disney, Turner and AMC for an about USD 15 monthly subscription. In addition, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as reported Morande, in less than a month ‘TV consumption has been doubled’ on the platform. The executive also stated that ‘today, customers are looking for an alternative to traditional cable, with a better experience and at a lower cost’. Zapping TV is available on LG, Samsung, Sony and Philips smart TVs,  Apple TV, Chromecast, via web and on iOS and Android devices.

Gustavo Morande is one of the confirmed speakers for the next edition of Nextv Series Argentina and Nextv CEO Latin America & US Hispanic, events organized by Dataxis. Nextv Series Argentina will take place on September 1st and 2nd at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buenos Aires, while the 2020 edition of Nextv CEO Latin America & US Hispanic will be developed on October 7th and 8th at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Miami.
