YouTube Premium, Google’s OTT SVOD non-advertising version already available in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico, was launched in Argentina and Uruguay together with YouTube Music, the music streaming platform developed by YouTube.
YouTube Premium (previously known as YouTube Red), has applications on iOS and Android, and is also available through its own website. Its offer includes access to the entire YouTube Originals catalog, which is integrated by series such as Cobra Kai, Impulse, F2 Finding Football and The Sidemen Show. The OTT allows subscribers to download videos to watch them without the need of an internet connection and the possibility of playing them in the background (that means that the content is not interrupted if other windows are opened in the cell phone).
YouTube Music, also available for Android and iOS, has a pay version and a free one with ads, with a 50 million songs platform that includes audiovisual material, live performances, covers and other associated content.
YouTube Music costs USD 2.40 per month for an individual profile and has a family option (for five users) whose price is USD 3.6. The launch promotion offers three months for free. YouTube Premium has a monthly cost of USD 2.9 and includes YouTube Music’s paid service features. The price of the family plan is USD 4.34.
