Xview, Megacable’s OTT, records more than one million subscribers at the end of Q2 2020

On its Q2 2020 quarterly results report, Megacable reported that its OTT Xview ended the quarter with more than a million subscribers, achieving more than 200 thousand net additions during the period. According to the report, the Megacable platform reported a growth of 23.1% in relation to the subscribers it got in Q1 2020, and, in the annual comparison (that is, in relation to Q2 2019), it achieved a growth of 73% .

At the end of Q2 2020, Megacable also recorded a 15.6% increase in subscribers to its HD offer, which added 167 thousand new clients, and currently reaches more than 1.2 million clients. In addition, the company reported that 84% of its subscriber base is digital, with 4.9 million STBs distributed. Similarly, during Q2, the video segment of the Mexican company totaled more than 3.2 million subscribers, which means a growth of 1.4% (44 thousand net additions) compared to Q2 2019, and 28 thousand new subscribers compared to Q1 2020. In May, Megacable announced the launch of new packages with the Netflix subscription included.

During the second quarter of the year, Megacable reported a churn of 1.8% on its video area; slightly less than the 1.9% it had in Q1, and the 2.6% it experienced in Q2 2019. The internet and telephony sectors ended the quarter with a churn of 1.6% and 2.4%, respectively.

Megacable’s total revenues at the end of Q2 2020 were valued at MX $ 5,460 million (around USD 2.45 billion), reporting an increase of 2.2% compared to Q2 2019. Of these, video revenues were MX $ 2,276 billion (USD 102 thousand), 2% more than those recorded in the same period of 2019. In turn, the company’s pay TV ARPU was valued at MX $ 405.7 (USD 18), 3% less than in Q1 2020, but 2% higher than the one recorded at the end of Q2 last year.
