Chilean mobile operator WOM announced it has started to deploy FTTH in Chile through its ‘WOM Fibra Beta’ plan. According to its official website, customers who hire it will have the offer available for a four-month period for free and will have up to 300 mbps maximum speed. The service will have a CL$ 14,990 (USD 17.87) fixed monthly charge
As WOM officially reported, its new offer includes symmetrical speed – that is, the upload speed will be the same as the download one-; unlimited browsing without data consumption restrictions; 24-hour technical support and installation for free.
In December 2019, the Pisapapeles website had reported that a user had claimed to have seen technical staff of the company performing installing FTTH in areas near the branch office that the operator owns in Coronel, commune belonging to Concepcion. The website also reported the existence of a second facility in Ñuñoa, northwest of Santiago, and noted that it was based on pilot tests. In December,, WOM had not expressed itself on the matter.
