US Entertainment Studios plans to launch the OTT ‘The Weather Channel in Spanish’ in the first quarter 2020, with Spanish-speaking reporters who will forecast weather conditions in the US and other countries such as Puerto Rico, Mexico and others from Central America, according to what the company officially reported.
OTT will use all The Weather Channel resources -which Entertainment Studios bought in 2018-. Subscribers will be able to track the status of storms and other relevant weather events and their consequences in their own communities.
‘Hispanic marketplace is indexing extremely well with streaming services and is severely underserved’, said Byron Allen, CEO of Entertainment Studios in a statement. ‘I am proud to say that all year long, viewers of The Weather Channel en Español will be able to increase their safety and awareness of extreme weather events with the full support of the number one weather news network, and its vast resources, infrastructure, technology, and scientists’, he ended.
