WarnerMedia (AT&T and Discovery) has announced this Wednesday, May 26th, that HBO Max, its new SVOD OTT, will be officially launched in Latin America on Tuesday, June 29th. The company confirmed that access to the platform in the region can be done from smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, compatible streaming devices, and through its web version.

HBO Max will offer two subscription plans, starting from USD 3 per month. According to WarnerMedia, prices per plan and country can be found on HBOMax official website. The Standard plan offers access to three simultaneous users, five personalized profiles, content downloads and video in high definition with some titles in 4K, across all supported devices. The Mobile plan offers access to the same content catalog, but has been designed for an individual experience with a single, standard definition stream on supported smartphones and tablets, with optimized image quality. Subscriptions for recurring periods of 3 or 12 months will also be also available with a discount of up to 30%. HBO Max will also offer a seven-day free trial period and an option where users will be able to sample some of the best series and documentaries, at no cost.
HBO Max will also be available through partners like AT&T Mexico,, and regional partners such as DirecTV Latin America, Sky Brasil and DirecTV GO, and Grupo America Movil which will offer HBO Max to their subscribers. Users who have an existing HBO linear subscription through distribution partners such as Claro Video (Mexico), Claro (Brazil), Claro (Latin America), Oi (Brazil), Tim (Brazil), TotalPlay (Mexico), Vivo (Brazil) and VTR (Chile), will have access to HBO Max for no additional cost. WarnerMedia has also informed that additional distribution partners that will offer HBO Max will continue to be announced in the upcoming weeks. In addition, existing HBO GO users will receive instructions before the launch on how to access HBO Max. As of HBO Max launch, the current HBO GO service in Latin America and the Caribbean will be discontinued.
In terms of content, HBO Max will provide access to content from brands such as HBO, Warner Bros, DC, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Turner Classics Movies, CNN, Loonney Tunes, TNT, and more. From WarnerMedia they reported that the platform “will offer the whole family content from some of the best storytellers and talent across Latin America’, including movies, series, documentaries, reality shows, kid contents and live sports. Among the main ones, HBO Max will include Warner Bros movies at no additional cost 35 days after they are released in theaters in Latin America. In addition, it will be the home of franchises such as ‘Harry Potter’; ‘The Matrix’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings‘; TV titles like ‘Friends‘ and ‘The Big Bang Theory‘; HBO original series, such as ‘The Sopranos’; ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Sex and the City’; and Max Originals, some of which will be produced in Latin America, such as ‘Bunker’; ‘Dias de Gallos‘; ‘Pop Divas’; PCC Secret Power ‘; ‘Las Bravas’; and others. In turn, at the sports level, WarnerMedia has officially confirmed that the UEFA Champions League matches will be live-streamed in Brazil and Mexico through HBO Max.
