WarnerMedia adds new original productions and appointments to HBO Max

Bob Greenblatt, CEO at WarnerMedia, gave new details about HBO Max content offering, with a planned release date for April 2020, to which new original productions are added. This way, the OTT catalog will feature more than 10 thousand hours of content, including those from HBO, Warner Bros and all its brands.

‘WarnerMedia is very aggressively moving into the OTT space. All of the assets of the company -HBO and Warner Bros- are coming together in one big platform, and we are really excited about it’, Greenblatt said during Mipcom.

HBO Max, which will also be the exclusive home of Friends, The Fresh Prince, Pretty Little Liars and all seasons of The Big Bang Theory, will also include original productions. ‘The Max part of it is new original programming broaden it out from kids to adults’, Greenblatt said. The platform already has many new series in the production stage, such as Dine; The Sisterhood; Tokyo Vice; The Flight Attendant; Love Life and Gremlins, and DC Entertainment productions. In addition, this week there were announced two new series for HBO Max: Equal, focused on the LGBTQ comunity, and Grease: Rydell High, a spinoff of the film starred by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John.

In addition, the company announced new appointments for HBO Max. Roberto Alcantara, Chika Chukudebelu and Mark Touhy were appointed vice presidents of the OTT drama division, and will report to Joey Chavez, HBO Max Original Drama VPE. Executives will be in charge of creating a catalog of original dramas for the platform.
