Warner Media acquired the broadcasting rights for Paulistão, Sao Paulo’s soccer championship, to transmit the matches through the HBO Max platform in the region. After having renounced the rights of the Brasileirão, the company went back to strengthen its Brazilian soccer offering.
According to the UOL news portal of Brazil, the agreement is valid from 2022 to 2025 and it still remains to be defined how the distribution of the matches will be and what packages will be enabled for the OTT. In addition, the broadcast of the championship will be added to the one of the European Champions League, which is already available to HBO Max users in Brazil.
On the other hand, during the same period stipulated for the contract with WarnerMedia, the Paulistão will be broadcast through the Record TV signal on open TV, and also for free from YouTube streaming. Both of them will be able to broadcast one game per season date, as well as one for each instance of the quarterfinals, semifinals and the final.
