Chilean Telecommunications company VTR subscribers decided to organize a class action lawsuit against the company, in response to the the removal of six Latin American TV networks from its grid: AMC, El Gourmet, Europa Europa, Film&Arts, Más Chic and Sundance TV. As a replacement, VTR added Azteca Cinema, Antena 3 Cine, Nick Jr, Antena 3 Series and Food VTR, all of them available in the app VTR play. According to VTR, this information was sent to its subscribers by email last October 31st.
‘Although new channels may have a similar content, quality is not similar. There is a subscriber who is constantly affected by unilateral decisions, and I think we all agree that VTR can not do whatever it wants wit its customers’, pointed Juan Ignacio Véjar, VTR subscribers lawyer.
Otherwise, Ricardo Guerra, VTR Content and Advertising Manager, explained that ‘20% of all our grid can be watched free in our on demand platforms and in the new app VTR Play. In the early hours of 2019 the numbers of subscribers entering our VOD platforms increased, and so did the time watching the new content available’.
