Vivo extends IPTV reach

Brazilian telecommunications company Vivo (Telefónica) announced the launch of its IPTV service in 20 new cities in the country. The operator also launched a promotion, valid until January 31, 2018, with discounts of up to 40% for customers who subscribe the Vivo Fibra service.
Among the cities where IPTV is now available are Rio de Janeiro, Niterói, Brasilia, Porto Alegre and Florianópolis. This way, the company now offers a complete programming with more than 95 HD channels, as well as on-demand content on multiple devices and Internet service with speeds of up to 300 Mbps.
With this promotion, customers can buy packages such as the so-called Ultimate HD for R$ 99.90 (USD 30.9) instead of paying R$ 144.90 (USD 44.8). For customers who prefer premium channels, the Full HD package includes the Ultimate offer and adds all Telecine and HBO channels for R$ 129.90 (USD 40). Originally, its price is R$ 199.90 (USD 61.7).
Recently, Telefónica announced the deployment of its new IPTV solution for Latin America based on the Frog Source Set Top Box (STB) software from Wyplay. This open source solution has been selected by Telefónica to become part of the ecosystems of middleware components providers for the company’s IPTV STBs.
