ViacomCBS announced yesterday that it will launch its SVOD OTT Paramount+ in the US and Latin America on March 4th. The company will also extend the launch of the platform to the Nordic countries, on March 25th, and to Australia in mid-2021, while in Canada it will rebrand the OTT CBS All Access as Paramount+, also from March 4th, with a higher content offer, which will be updated during the year.
During its Q2 2020 results report presentation, ViacomCBS announced the launch of a new premium SVOD OTT, which would be launched in early 2021. The name of the platform is the same that the company has already launched in some Latin American countries during 2019.
Some of the most relevant content on Paramount+ will focus on original content from CBS All Access, premieres and content from Comedy Central, BET, Nickelodeon, MTV and Paramount Network, and others. Up to now, ViacomCBS has not expressed itself in relation to how much the subscription that must be paid to access the catalog of its new SVOD OTT will cost.
In the AVOD market, ViacomCBS has officially launched Pluto TV in Latin America in April 2020 and, in early December, it also launched the platform in Brazil, a country in which the AVOD OTT original initial offering brought together 27 channels and added another three during the month. In November last year, the company reported that Pluto TV Latin America already records a total of 70 channels since its launch, and that the platform’s catalog is available to be broadcast via Chromecast.
