ViacomCBS announced this Tuesday that the premium SVOD OTT that plans to launch in Latin America and the Nordic countries in 2021, as officially announced in August, will be called Paramount+, similar to the SVOD platform that the company launched in several Latin American countries throughout 2019. The new platform will be available from the first quarter 2021.
‘With the global launch of Paramount+, we are ready to become a powerful player on streaming, as we are on TV. ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI) is focused on building a significant global brand presence in our key markets, generating advertising, subscription and licensing revenue from streaming. By leveraging the iconic Paramount brand, ViacomCBS ‘state-of-the-art infrastructure along with an incredible and huge library of unmissable content, Paramount+ will deliver a unique entertainment experience for consumers, while significantly disrupting the streaming industry’, said David Lynn, President & CEO of VCNI.
Paramount+ will feature exclusive premieres of original series from Showtime and CBS All Access, its own originals, series from CBS Television Studios, and others. In Latin America, its first original series, produced by ViacomCBS International Studios, is titled ‘Cecilia’, and was created by Oficina Burman. Currently, access to Paramount+ can be done through Clarovideo in Mexico and Latin America; Claro, Oi and Oi Play in Brazil; TV Cable in Ecuador; and StarTV and TotalPlay in Mexico.
