Viacom launches its OTT Paramount+ in Latin America on April 30th

Viacom International Media Networks announced it will launch its OTT Paramount + in Latin America. Its catalog will include the company’s regional contents, and will be marketed through operators and directly to the consumer. The chosen date for the launch is April 30th through the Brazilian operator Net, to later expand it to the entire region with Claro Video, according to Ezequiel Fonseca Zas, Viacom’s Emerging Business SVP.

By mid-2019, Viacom plans to launch the OTT in iOS and Android stores, to market it directly to consumers. Depending on the territory, Paramount+’s monthly subscription will cost around USD 4 and USD 4.5.

Viacom’s global brands such as MTV, Comedy Central, Paramount Channel and Nickelodeon, together with more than 150 films from major Hollywood studios and around 2,000 TV series episodes will be some of the contents that will take part of the OTT catalog, whose offer will be from Viacom by an 85%. Before its Latin American launching, Paramount + was already available in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Hungary and Poland (in the last two cases it was called Paramount Play).

Federico Llano, Viacom’s Emerging Business Director in Latam & Brazil, will participate in the ‘OTT Pay TV: Skinny Bundles and Add-On Channels’ panel, as part of the Nextv Series Argentina event, developed by Dataxis. It will take place on May 14th and 15th at the Intercontinental Hotel, in Buenos Aires.
