Viacom and CBS announced today that they will complete their merger on December 4th, under which they will operate as a single company, which will be called ‘ViacomCBS’. This way, both companies are following the announcement made at the end of October, when they indicated that the merger would take place ‘on early December’. The merger agreement had been announced in August. 

The new company will be led by Bob Bakish, current CEO at Viacom, who will take the same position at ViacomCBS. Joe Ianniello will be CBS President and CEO, and will report to Bakish. Their merger brings both companies together, which had already operated that way between 2000 and 2006, when they were separated. Since then, and with special emphasis in recent years, several attempts to merge  them have taken place.

ViacomCBS Inc’s brand portfolio will feature CBS, Showtime, Nickelodeon, MTV, BET, Comedy Central and Paramount Network, and a ore than 750 series, 140 thousand episodes and 3600 movies catalog.
