Venezuela creates the National Telecommunications Corporation

From the Innovation and Technology Fair of the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB), Venezuela’s President, Nicolas Maduro, created the country’s National Telecommunications Corporation through a decree, and announced that telecommunications companies like  Cantv, Movilnet, Telecom, Venezuela’s Broadcasting Network, Gran Caribe Communications and Ipostel (postal area) will be unified. The new corporation will be in charge of Colonel Jorge Marquez, President’s Office Minister and Director of the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel).

‘I proceed to sign the decree by which I create a united and powerful corporation, as it is going to be, and it is as of today the telecommunications areas and postal services of the country’s socialist corporation’, said Maduro on National Television.

After the creation of the National Telecommunications Corporation of Venezuela,’s announcement,  the President said that he has ordered the necessary negotiations and investment to enhance capabilities and quality of fourth generation telecommunications with the Asian giant companies Huawei and ZTE.
