UOL launches new TV channel

Brazilian company Universo Online (UOL – Grupo Folha), owner of the UOL website, one of the most importants in the country, announced last May 12th the launch of ‘Canal UOL’, its new TV channel, whose catalog is focused on news, entertainment, documentaries, and other content.

According to the information officially reported on the website, the project is launched because of the 25 years of the company, and features an eight hours a day programming grid, of which six are live, from Monday to Friday. Likewise, all the programs are available to be watched on demand, either within the website, as well as from the UOL Play platform, and UOL’s official YouTube, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

According to Paulo Samia, CEO at UOL, with Canal UOL ‘we strengthen our editorial products distribution, and we offer our audiences the best of the programming that is traditionally available on TV, with the ease and comfort of streaming’. In addition, Murilo Garavello, Content Director at UOL, reported that the channel’s content focuses on ‘journalism, entertainment, including sports coverage too’. The executive also reported that the contents ‘will have the traditional editorial quality and credibility of UOL’.

The new channel initiative is added to the launch of the previously mentioned UOL Play, launched in May 2020. The company selected Watch Brasil as a technology partner and platform to support its new OTT.
