As reported last January, Televisa and Univision have officially announced a distribution agreement for the Univision linear channel, which, since March 30th, is available in all Latin American countries, except from Brazil.
As detailed in the announcement, the Latin American version of the US Hispanic channel is distributed in the region by Televisa Networks and its content catalog includes productions from Televisa and Univision Studios, such as ‘Despierta America’, ‘El gordo y la flaca’, ‘El primer impacto’, and others. To complement the channel’s offer, Televisa also included part of its most successful productions.
Fernando Muñiz, General Director at Televisa Networks and Televisa Internacional, has expressed himself about the launch of Univision and said that ‘through this new channel, thousands of people in Latin America will be able to access top-level content, through an authorized and legal TV network throughout the region’. Later, the executive added that at Televisa Networks ‘we continue to experience rapid growth worldwide thanks to the partnerships agreements we run with prominent players in the media, such as Univision, and we are very excited to take another step in our expansion in Latin America’.
‘For decades, the Univision brand has been synonymous with exceptional programming that entertains, informs, and empowers Hispanics in the US. A key part of this is linked with telling stories to people about topics of interest in Latin America’, said Glenn Dryfoos, EVP and General Legal Counsel for Univision Networks.
