TyC Sports signs capacity agreement with Arsat-2

Sports channel TyC Sports from Argentina has signed a one-year capacity agreement with Arsat-2 to broadcast live sports events across the country. The channel was assigned with 18 Mhz in Ku- band, enough to distribute more than one channel in different qualities.

Arsat-2 is a geostationary communication satellite operated by Arsat and built by the Argentine company Invap (Investigación Aplicada).

Recently, the companies Red Intercable – which gathers operators from across the country – and America Móvil acquired 144 MHz and 52 MHz bandwidth respectively, informed Arsat in a press release.

Last May, Arsat-2 also obtained landing rights in Canada, allowing the company to commercialize the satellite signal to customers in that country.

Arsat-2 is the second satellite built in Argentina after the Arsat-1, which was launched on October 2014 by Arianespace’s Ariane 5. The Arsat- 2 was launched in September 2015.
