The pay TV channel TUDN (Televisa and Univision), launched in 2019, announced that, starting this Friday, July 3rd, it will broadcast the Copa de Mexico, a new football competition in which eight clubs in the country will participate and will last 15 matches. The tournament will take place at the Estadio Akron, in Guadalajara, and at the Estadio Olimpico Universitario, located in Mexico City.
Univision will broadcast all the matches through Univision, UniMas, TUDN and Galavision, in addition to its website, its app and the TUDN Radio Network. As officially reported by the channel, in addition to the matches, it will also offer pre-matches broadcasts and the coverage of each matches of the competitions and post analysis.
The clubs that will take part of the competition are America, Pumas, Toluca, Cruz Azul, Chivas, Atlas, Mazatlan and Tigres. As reported from the channel, the mentioned clubs will be divided into two groups. Group A will be made up of America, Pumas, Toluca and Cruz Azul, while Chivas, Atlas, Mazatlan and Tigres will participate in group B. The four teams from each group will face each other once, and the best two will advance to the semifinals, where the two leading teams from each group will face each other. The two winning teams will play the final of the Copa de Mexico, which will take place on July 19th.
In addition, on June 10th, the Liga MX President, Enrique Bonilla Barrutia, officially confirmed that the Professional Football League of Mexico will be resumed on July 24th, after having been canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
