Three companies in race for Chile’s Canal del Fútbol

According to El Mercurio, FOX, Turner and Qatar’s BeIN Sports would be the finalists in the process to decide the new owner of Canal del Fútbol’s broadcast rights in Chile. The three finalists were selected for the final stage – among other companies that had submitted non-binding offers – after offering close to USD 1 billion.

The local media, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that the three companies won the race against other competitors like Liberty Global, owner of largest pay TV operator, VTR; ESPN and Univision.

Now, the new stage includes the presentation of binding offers that will be analyzed by the current owners of the channel, the National Association of Professional Football – ANFP (which owns 80%) and the group of investors headed by Jorge Claro (20%).
