The homepage on YouTube’s TV app is about to feature a major disruption that will be familiar to people who use the main site: a giant advertisement at the top of the page. The large ad is referred to as the YouTube Masthead, and it’s considered a prime advertisement slot. According to a Google press release, advertisements on the TV app will ‘autoplay for viewers after a few seconds on all compatible devices’.
According to what Google officially reported, through this globally-available beta, marketers can purchase the YouTube Masthead on TV screens o and customize the audiences they want to see it. It will be available as a reserved placement to ensure brands can drive the visibility they need on the dates that matter most.
Google has also reported that TV screens are its fastest growing device, where daily watch time tops 250 million hours per day.
