Televisa signs distribution deal with NBCUniversal, Telemundo

Mexican broadcaster Televisa announced that it has signed content distribution deals with NBCUniversal International Distribution and its Telemundo unit for Mexico and Latin America.

The agreement with NBCUniversal expands Televisa’s existing contract for free-to-air television and includes a pack of movies for pay TV channels Golden Premier and Golden (Televisa Networks), as well as content for its streaming video platform Blim. The deal with the OTT service starts in October.

The Telemundo deal is for Blim and includes the network’s so-called “Super Series” such as the fourth season of “El Señor de los Cielos” (“The Lord of Heaven”).

“We are very proud to extend our partnership with Televisa to include a selection of the best content from Telemundo and NBCUniversal International,” said chairman of NBCUniversal International Group and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. “Televisa has been a partner with whom we have developed a fruitful relationship for over a decade. It is very satisfying to see the arrival of the Telemundo super series on Televisa’s digital platforms, after achieving great performances in the US and Latin America.”
