Televisa launches mobile phone service as MVNO and completes Izzi’s quadruple play offer

Televisa announced it has started offering, from June 1st, its mobile telephony offer as a virtual mobile operator (MVNO). It is called ‘Izzi Movil’, and offers unlimited internet, phone calls and SMS. With its launch, Izzi, which already provided pay TV, fixed phone and internet services, will have a quadruple play offer. To provide its new service, Televisa will use the Red Compartida, operated by Altan Redes.

According to Mexican specialized websites, Televisa has originally planned to launch its new offer in September this year, according to what Salvi Folch, CEO at Izzi, has reported on an interview. ‘The pandemic made us accelerate our plans because people will have to spend less on some services. We view it as an opportunity’, he said.

The new offer will be valued at MX$ 250 (USD 11). When interviewed, Folch reported that Televisa may consider expanding the service beyond its own clients in the future. In 2019, Megacable has also launched itself to the MVNO market with Altan Redes.
