Telefonica launched OTT Movistar Play in Uruguay


Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica launched in Uruguay its OTT Movistar Play ( for its mobile phone customers, according to local newspaper El Pais. Users can try the service for a month without charge, which will later cost an additional USD 6.2.


Movistar also launched promotional plans to promote the new service, such as Infinity Plans with internet packs of 5 and 7 Gb, including Movistar Play for 3 or 6 months, for USD 21 or USD 27.1 per month, respectively. The OTT can be accessed by up to a maximum of five connected devices, and played on up to two of them simultaneously.


Telefonica already offers this service in Latin America in countries like Brazil (Vivo Play), Argentina (Video On), Chile (Movistar Play) and Colombia (Movistar Video). In addition, it will launch VOD and linear channels in seven new countries in 2016: Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
