In its Q3 2019 results report, Telefonica Brazil – where it operates under the Vivo brand – added 33 new cities to its FTTH network between January and September, which, to date, amount to 154, taking into account the 121 where the company deployed FTTH in 2018. At Q3 2019, the company has also covered 10 million HPs in the country.
FTTH and IPTV revenues represent 20% of the company’s fixed revenues. According to the report, the company’s revenues in FTTH during Q3 2019 were R$ 531 million (USD 132.5 million), and those of IPTV totaled R$ 227 million (USD 56.6 million). Both figures mean an increase in the income of both areas in relation to Q3 2018, by 44% and 26%, respectively.
Telefonica Brazil also reported that, during Q3 2019, 49% of pay TV accesses were made through IPTV. During that period, 681 million accesses were recorded this way, which means a 27% more than th 536 million recorded in Q3 2018. Apart from that, the pay TV ARPU in the country has also increased and totaled R$ 105.7 (USD 26), a 4% more than the same period 2018.
In Q3 2019, Telefónica’s FTTH network in Brazil joined Alvorada (Rio Grande do Sul); Aracaju (Sergipe); Camboriú (Santa Catarina); Colatina (Holy Spirit); Contagem (Minas Gerais); Guaíba (Rio Grande do Sul); Jaguariúna (San Pablo); Lajeado (Rio Grande do Sul); Linhares (Espírito Santo); Mineiros (Goiás); Paranavaí (Paraná) and Pirassununga (San Pablo).
