Starzplay launches in Argentina and Chile as D2C

Starz (Lionsgate) has announced this Wednesday, October 29th, the launch of the StarzPlay app direct to the consumer in Argentina and Chile, including plans for new launches in more countries during the rest of the year.

After first launching the Starzplay app internationally last year, we are excited to expand our direct-to-consumer app in Argentina and Chile and provide local subscribers with a seamless gateway to the platform and premium content, with the best global SVOD, on the device they prefer’,said Superna Kalle, EVP, International Digital Networks at Starz.

As officially reported by Starz, the SVOD OTT is available in Argentina for USD 2.49 per month, and in Chile for a CLP 3,200 (USD 4) monthly subscription. In both countries, subscribers will be able to access a catalog of movies and series available at Starzplay on the same day they are broadcast in the US. The Starzplay catalog includes the original Starz series ‘The Spanish Princess’; dramas like ‘The name of the rose’; and series nominated for the 2020 Emmy Awards, such as ‘Normal People’; ‘The Great’ and ‘The Act’; as well as a portfolio of films, with various titles available.

The Starzplay application can be downloaded, both in Chile and Argentina, on iOS and Android devices. In addition, Starz reported that up to four users will be able to watch content at the same time and download content without the need for an internet connection. Subscribers will also feature personalized recommendations for shows and movies available, based on previous views; and they will also be able to choose their preferred language for audio and subtitles of the contents they want to watch.
