Disney announced that it will re-launch a free 3-day pass for Star +, its OTT focused on sports content and adult entertainment, for new subscribers from Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru, who acquire the service during the next weekend.
From Friday, December 10 to Sunday, 12, users will be able to access the platform for free, and if they do not cancel their membership, they will be charged once the period ends. Last October, the service had offered the same promotion in the same countries, in order to boost the number of clients in Latin America.
In September 2021, Bob Chapek, CEO of Disney, revealed that Star + had been growing much slower than anticipated in the region, and that therefore one of its strategies to extend the reach of the platform would be to start being more “aggressive” with its presence in sports content. Now, the OTT promotes that during the validity of the free pass, it will broadcast competitions such as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the game between PSG and Monaco and two broadcasts of the North American Sunday Night Football, which will include the Packers vs Bears and Buccaneers vs Bills matches.
