SporTV channels reached 38 million viewers during the Olympics

SporTV channels (Globosat) reached 38 million viewers during Rio 2016 Olympic Games. This number represents an increase of 29% more viewers compared to the London Olympics 2012, Globosat reported through a press release.

To cover all competitions in Rio, SporTV offered 16 pay TV channels and 56 others channels available via streaming through SporTV Play and SporTV Play Rio2016 apps. “The Games were a landmark in terms of production, transmission and technology compared with all the previous games,” said Bianca Maksud, Globosat SportsChannels Marketing and Product Director.

Among the most watched sports, volleyball was the sports discipline that drew the most SporTV viewers’ attention, followed by soccer. Adding these sports disciplines to athletics, basketball and gymnastics, SporTV channels reached 27 million viewers.

In turn, SporTV 2016 app was one of the most downloaded, with 1.1 million downloads. Having access to all SporTV channels, apps had 6.8 million hours via live streaming.
