As reported days ago by several specialized websites in Argentina, finally the Argentine Football Association (AFA) has officially announced this last Wednesday that the country’s Professional Football League will be resumed next Friday, October 30th with a new local competition, called ‘Copa Liga Profesional 2020’ (LPF).
Although the tournament’s TV system has not been officially reported yet, days ago the Argentine newspaper Clarin reported that TNT (Turner) could be in charge of televising all matches. The website also reported that ‘there are open-ended talks between Fox Sports and Turner’, and that ‘there will initially be two matches that will be broadcast on TV Publica’, and they would take place one on Saturday and the other on Sunday.
The LPF will feature 24 teams, which will initially be divided into six groups of four teams each. The draw for the conformation of each group will take place today under strict health regulations, and can be accessed live through the Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube LPF official accounts
Argentine teams are currently playing Copa Libertadores matches. In addition, many Argentine football players who live both in Argentina and in other countries, are also facing the Qualifiers for the next World Cup, to be held in Qatar, in 2022. Football activity was cancelled in Argentina on March 17th, when the country’s Government established a mandatory social distancing period, due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
