Spiral agrees with Fremantle to produce and distribute new Starzplay’s Mexican series

After, at the beginning of August, Starzplay (Lionsgate) announced that it would produce series in Spanish for the first time, including the series ‘Toda la Sangre’, produced in Mexico, now, from Spiral, they announced an agreement with Freemantle to co-produce and co-distribute the title, a thriller based on a series of detective novels written by Mexican author Bernardo Esquinca, and produced in partnership with Pantaya and Spiral International.

As detailed in the agreement, Fremantle will co-produce the content through its Latin America division, while being in charge of selling the series outside the Americas. The series tells the story of Casasola, a journalist specialized in crimes, who is willing to solve all crimes that take place in Mexico City, and will come across a series of murders that seem inspired by Aztec sacrifices and challenges nature’s laws.

‘Fremantle’s access will allow us to add an international perspective to this premium show. We are excited to be working with them on this project’, said Zasha Robles, CEO at Spiral International.

Coty Cagliolo, Head of Production Latam at Fremantle, and Manuel Marti, Head of Scripted Development Latam at Fremantle, have also expressed themselves about their partnership agreement with Spiral. ‘We are delighted to be partnering with Spiral International on Fremantle’s first Mexican drama. It is an honor to work with Starzplay on one of their first series for Latin America, as well as with Pantaya in the US. We believe that this project confirms our status as a truly global studio’.
