Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) and Lionsgate have signed a multi-year, international home entertainment distribution deal for Lionsgate’s deep slate of premium television programming, including hit TV series like “Orange is the New Black”.
The agreement gives SPHE distribution rights worldwide outside the U.S., UK and Canada (subject to rights availability), which will allow to consolidate the DVD and Blu-ray distribution of Lionsgate’s nearly 90-show slate of TV programming under a single distribution entity. The catalogue includes other titles like “Mad Men”, “Nashville” and “Nurse Jackie”. Lionsgate will continue to self-distribute its television properties on digital home entertainment platforms.
“We are delighted to extend our relationship with Lionsgate to bring their premium TV slate to international home entertainment audiences. This deal demonstrates SPHE’s continuing drive to expand our global distribution business by working with the very best content creators,” said SPHE President, Man Jit Singh.
