In an attempt to stop subscribers lost recorded in its customers base, pay TV operator Sky Brazil evaluates offering a new live linear programming format, exclusively through streaming.
Online tests with Brazilian pay TV channels -including FTA TV channels, began last month. In a first stage, the model will only be available to subscribers who pay an additional value to access the service and, for that, they must download an application on their cell phones or smart TVs.
At present, Sky has the OTT Sky Play available in Brazil, which allows its subscribers to access an on demand catalog of programs, series and movies. With this new initiative, the company adds the possibility of offering live TV online. The new Sky Brazil platform will bring together pay TV, on demand and linear programming. Its launch day has not been confirmed yet.
