Brazilian FTA station SBT will invest more in its SBT Videos platform, to deepen its role in the AVOD market, as announced by Fernando Pensado, head of the channel’s Innovation Area. The main goal will be to incorporate more third-party products, he explained.
For now, SBT videos’ third-party content offering is limited, with only one library of movies; while its true strength is its VOD catalogue, with shows of its own programming, and its live broadcast.
However, in this new investment stage, the station desires to strengthen its offer of third-party products, for which it seeks more productions from affiliated stations. Recently, SBT signed an agreement with two Brazilian production companies, A2 Filmes and Belli Studio, to advance its goal.
“We are adding the third-party scheme, bringing content partners in a model that makes sense for them, in the visibility and in the income they can generate with advertising”, Pensado explained. “It’s a natural path for the future of television. We are doing some experiments before going in with everything“, he clarified.
