Roku officially announced it is adding the Brazilian OTT PlayKids, focused on offering children and educational content and digital books, in several Latin American countries, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Peru.
PlayKids can be accessed through the Roku channel store for a monthly subscription valued at USD 4.99, which includes a free 14-day trial period. The OTT was launched in 2013 in Brazil, and is owned by the Movile Group, focused on children’s educational content. At present, the platform is available in more than 180 countries and in six different languages.
Earlier this year, Roku was officially launched in Brazil, and announced a partnership with AOC for the launch of smart TVs in the country. In addition, it reported an alliance with Globoplay, which will be one of the first Brazilian SVODs to be available on the platform, on a direct access button on Roku’s remote controls, as reported in January by the specialized website FirceVideo. Apart from PlayKids, in Brazil, Roku will also have the Apple TV application -with access to Apple TV+-, Netflix, YouTube, HBO, Google Play, DAZN, BabyFirstTV, Looke, and others.
