Professional Football in São Paulo strengthens its digital experience through Paulistão Play

The São Paulo’s Football Federation, (FPF), football regulator in São Paulo, Brazil, announced this last Friday, January 22nd, the launch of Paulistão Play, its new OTT platform, which will be accessible from the second half of February , through iOS and Android devices, as well as through its web version.

According to information reported by the Federation, some of the content that the new platform will feature will be focused on various competitions that take place in São Paulo, such as the Copa São Paulo; the Paulista Women’s Football Championship ( Paulistão Feminino); the Paulista U-20 Championship, and others. Paulistão Play will offer matches of the competitions, as well as the best moments and special features. Access to the platform will require a previous registration.

‘Following the example of the main leagues in the world, we have been invested in the digital area for five years. We have run important partnership agreements with platforms, such as Facebook for the Paulistão Feminino and Copa São Paulo. And we have a high-end digital content production, with a strong focus on streaming, with more than 2,500 matches streamed in the last three years. The launch of Paulistão Play is another important step in our strategy to offer the market and fans a new way for football consumption’, reported Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, President at the FPF.

As reported by the entity, with the launch of Paulistão Play, the aim is to generate a new line of income for clubs and expand its presence in the digital field, making the OTT one of the pillars of FPF’s strategy to expand the monetization of the sports rights it represents, by allowing broadband users access to its content.
