Productions from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and US Hispanic are nominated for the International Emmy Awards 2020

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced this last Thursday, September 24th, the nominations for the International Emmy Awards, which will reward the best productions aired on TV during the past year. In its 2020 edition, Latin productions achieved 15 nominations, of which seven are from Brazil; four from US Hispanic, three from Argentina and one from Colombia. The winning titles will be announced at a ceremony to be held in New York on November 23rd.

As part of the ‘Drama Series’ category is the Argentine fiction ‘El jardin de bronce’, produced by Polka for HBO Latin America. On the other hand, ‘Pequeña Victoria’ (ViacomCBS International Studios and Oficina Burman, aired by Telefe) will compete as ‘The Best Telenovela’; and the docu-reality ‘Mil Manos por Argentina’ (StoryLab and Atomic Lab, broadcast on Cablevision Flow), is nominated in the ‘Short-Film Series’ category.

From Brazil, Globo achieved three nominations: its production ‘Orfãos da Terra’ will compete as ‘Best Telenovela’. ‘Elis – Viver é Melhor que Sonhar’ will do so as ‘Best TV Movie or Miniseries’; and the actress Andrea Beltrão is competing as ‘Best Actress’ for her role in the  ‘Hebe’ series. In addition, the Netflix series ‘Ninguem ta Olhando’, produced by Gullane Entertainment, will try to get the ‘Best Comedy’ award; Raphael Logam will compete as the ‘Best Actor’ for his work in The Walt Disney Company’s ‘Impuros, Season 2’ (aired on Fox Premium); the program ‘Canta comigo’, from Record TV and Endemol Shine, is a finalist as ‘Non-Scripted Entertainment’; and the documentary ‘Refavela 40’, by HBO Brasil, in ‘Arts Programming’.

On behalf of the US Hispanic market, the finalists of the ‘Non-English Language US Primetime Program’ are Univision’s 20th Annual Latin Grammy Awards gala and three fiction series from Telemundo Global Studios for Telemundo: ‘No te puedes esconder’ (in partnership with Netflix) and ‘Preso No.1’ (together with Keshet) and the second season of ‘La reina del sur’ (together with Netflix, AG Studios Colombia, Diagonal TV and Argos).

Finally, the Colombian documentary ‘El Testigo’ (Caracol TV) will try to stand out among productions from the UK, South Korea and Belgium.
