Pluto TV to arrive at Latin America in 2020

After formalizing the launch of Paramount + in Latin America, Viacom Executive Chairman Bob Bakish announced that the Latin version of  the OTT AVOD Pluto TV will be officially launched next July 1st, with Spanish-speaking channels. The platform was acquired by Viacom in January, for USD 340 million. The launch will initially take place in the US Hispanic market, and will arrive at Latin America in 2020. The exactly launching date was not announced yet.

‘We will launch the product in the US Hispanic on July 1st as Pluto Latino, and we will launch it throughout Latin America at the beginning of the 2020 calendar, so it really is an international product’, Bakish said at the Credit Suisse Annual Communications Conference.

As informed by Dataxis last February, Viacom has reported Pluto TV’s launch in Spanish for Latin America in its 2019 Q1 results report presentation for analysts. It currently achieves 16 million active subscribers in the US, which represents a 31% increase since Viacom acquired it.
