The Peruvian Transport and Telecommunications Ministry (MTC) published the N° 1147-2019-MTC Ministerial Resolution, which aims to make changes on the DTT implementation Master Plan in the country, in order to make an adequate DTT transition.
‘The decision is aimed to change the analog broadcast network for the Territory I (Lima and Callao), from the end of 2020 to the end of 2022’, said Mariella Carrasco, Licenses in Telecommunications General Director, who also added that the initiative includes to change the start of the DTT migration process in Territory III (Ayacucho, Chimbote, Ica, Iquitos, Pucallpa, Puno and Tacna).
The MTC decision does not change the date established for the end of analog broadcasts in the country, scheduled for 2028. ‘The previous mentioned changes will allow citizens to inform themselves about the benefits granted by DTT, for them to know how to use it easily, on a daily basis and take advantage of this new way of watching TV’, said Carrasco. In 2018, DTT has arrived at more Peruvian cities, including Trujillo, Arequipa, Cusco, Huancayo and Huanuco, which are part of the DTT implementation Master Plan Territory III.
