According to several specialized websites in Brazil, the Brazilian pay TV operator Oi has added Netflix as part of its IPTV offer, called ‘Oi TV Fibra’. With this benefit, the company’s customers can access the OTT directly through their STBs.
The operator does not allow to pay the Netflix subscription on its monthly bill, but customers who access the streaming platform must use other payment methods. This way, Oi becomes the third Brazilian pay TV operator to implement the initiative, after Telefonica (which operates in Brazil under the ‘Vivo’ brand); and Claro / Net (America Movil).
According to figures from the latest report made by Anatel, Brazil’s telecommunications regulator, Oi ended November with a total of 1.67 million pay TV subscribers, most of whom belong to its DTH offer. In addition, according to Anatel, Oi’s IPTV offer reached 90 thousand clients in the eleventh month of the year.
