Netflix to open new headquarters in Bogota and plans to release 30 local productions in Colombia between 2021 and 2022

Netflix has announced this last Thursday that it will open a new headquarter for the company in Bogota, Colombia. In addition, the company announced that, between 2021 and 2022, up to 30 new series, films, documentaries and special contents will be produced in the country.

‘Today, we are excited to take the next step: a new home in Colombia. This year we will open our headquarter in Bogota, which will allow us to be even closer to the creative community and our subscribers, bringing Colombian stories to millions of households around the world, and for everyone to discover the incredible potential, talent, landscapes and culture of that country’, they officially reported from Netflix on the initiative.

New Colombian productions for Netflix includes already announced titles, such as ‘Ritmo Salvaje’; ‘Locombianos’; ‘Juanpis’; ‘Lokillo Florez: Nada es igual’; ‘Alejandra Azcarate’; ‘Goles en contra’; ‘Palpito’; ‘Perfil Falso’; ‘Diomedes’; and the second season of ‘Chichipatos’, a Caracol Television production for Netflix, whose premiere is scheduled for next April 30th. In addition, the company reported that the titles mentioned here are part of an investment valued at more than USD 175 million, which Netflix has been making in Colombian content since 2014.

Some of the Colombian productions that have recently premiered on Netflix include titles such as ‘Siempre Bruja’ (2019, two seasons); ‘Distrito Salvaje’ (2018; two seasons); ‘Chichipatos’ (2020; second season soon to premiere); ‘Frontera Verde’ (2019; one season); ‘El Robo del Siglo’ (2020; one season), in addition to comedy specials, and even movies, such as ‘Lavaperros’ (2021).
