Netflix has announced last week that it will soon release new Colombian original productions on its catalog, thus continuing to strengthen its local original productions in Latin America. According to the information reported by the company, there will be 10 new Colombian titles that will be added to its content offering.
Up to now, the only production announced on which Netflix confirmed its release date is the second season of ‘Chichipatos’, a Caracol Televisión production, which will be available on the SVOD OTT as of April 30th. The rest of the announced productions are titled ‘Ritmo Salvaje’; ‘Juanpis’; ‘Goles en contra’; ‘Palpito’; ‘Perfil Falso’; ‘Lokillo Florez: Nada es Igual’; ‘Alejandra Azcarate’; ‘Locombianos’ and ‘Diomedes’.
‘Ritmo Salvaje’ is a fiction series focused on musical styles and dance, produced by Caracol Television. The second title announced, ‘Juanpis’, will focus on characters played by Colombian actor and comedian Alejandro Riaño. The production, in this case, is in charge of Dynamo. ‘Goles en contra’, also produced by Dynamo, is a fictional miniseries whose plot focuses on the relationship of several players of the Colombian National Team with drug trafficking. One of those that will be available in the series will be that of former Colombian footballer Andres Escobar, killed a few days after scoring a goal in his own bow, removing the Colombian National Team from the 1994 World Cup, played in the US.
The plot of ‘Palpito’, produced by CMO Producciones, is based on a story that focuses on the revenge of a husband after his wife was murdered to remove his heart and transplant it to the wife of a powerful millionaire. On the other hand, ‘Perfil Falso’, produced by AG Studio, focuses on the universe of online love affairs applications; while ‘Lokillo Florez: Nada es Igual’, produced by Imaginer Films, is a stand-up show by Colombian comedian Lokillo Florez. ‘Alejandra Azcarate’, produced by Miracle Media, is a comedy show that will combine sketches, monologues and talk-shows, starred by Colombian model herself. The last two titles announced are ‘Locombianos’, produced by Take One Producciones, in which, over four comedy specials, four Colombian comedians will offer a 30-minute show each week; and ‘Diomedes’, a documentary that examines Colombian singer and composer Diomedes Díaz life.
