Netflix releases its first original Argentine film on May 28th

Netflix yesterday released the trailer for ‘La Corazonada’, a new Argentine thriller that will be released globally on the platform on May 28th. This is the first original Netflix film produced in Argentina, which joins other productions also made in the country for the OTT, such as the recently announced ‘Casi Feliz’; ‘Apache: la vida de Carlos Tevez’; ‘No hay tiempo para la vergüenza’; ‘Puerta 7’ and ‘Fangio: el hombre que domaba las maquinas’.

As Netflix officially reported, ‘La Corazonada’ tells the story of Manuela ‘Pipa’ Pelari, a young policewoman played by Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato, who is taking her first steps as an investigator and who, together with Francisco Juanez (Joaquin Furriel), an inspector from the homicide division will have to solve the violent murder suffered by a 19-year-old girl, whose main suspect is the victim’s best friend. At the same time, Pipa must secretly investigate the crime of another young man, of which Juanez, her boss, appears to be guilty.

Produced by FAM Contenidos, Corinthian and Cindy Teperman SRL, the film is written by Mili Roque Pitt, Alejandro Montiel and Florencia Etcheves. The film is based on the novel ‘La virgen en tus ojos’, by Florencia Etcheves.

In its Q1 2020 results report, Netflix reported to have recorded more than 34 million subscribers in Latin America and increased the number of clients in the region by 9.2%, compared to the last quarter 2019. Recently, the platform premiered the series ‘Casi Feliz’, produced in Argentina, and announced that it will open new offices in Buenos Aires this year.
