Netflix to raise the price of its standard package on accounts that have not been yet updated

American OTT Netflix will raise USD 1 its Standard plan in Latin America (except Brazil and Mexico) starting in May. The current rate (USD 9.99 per month) will apply to users with accounts created before October 2015 since newer subscriptions already pay the surcharge.
The measure announced last year through a press release includes Latin America, the United States and Canada. The rise will be only for its most common mode, which allows simultaneous HD reproductions for two screens at most. The Basic (USD 7.99) and Premium (USD 11.99) subs will keep their rates for the time being.
Netflix will exceed 10 million pay subscribers in Latin America by 2018, estimated the last report by Dataxis belonging to the Pay-TV Operators Series 2015 collection, which took into account the seven major markets in the region (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela, Mexico and Peru).
