Netflix announced that it will make a significant investment to develop content in Brazil and revealed that it will make 40 local original productions throughout 2022, during the event that the platform organized in São Paulo, entitled “Mais Brasil Na Tela”. In addition, it revealed that the second step will be to promote the development of projects from the beginning, financing programs that will seek to help creators.
Elisabetta Zenatti, VP of Content at Netflix in Brazil, stated that from next year, the OTT will launch local premieres every month. “I can say that Netflix will invest and produce like never before in Brazil,” she said, during the celebration of the 10 years of the app in the country.
In addition,she spoke about the decision and the challenge of producing content for a certain region. “We produce in Brazil mainly for Brazilians, after all we have a large audience here. The only thing we can offer is to create Brazilian content for Brazilians”, Zenatti said. And finally, she mentioned how such content can also be thought to expand outside the local market. “Sometimes a series is the starting point to pique people’s interest in a certain culture“, she explained.
