The OTT Netflix announced it has increased its plans prices in Chile, which were the same from August 2017. The measure takes place after the creation of a new tax on digital platforms, which will start paying VAT in the country.
‘With the aim of offering the best entertainment experience with more exclusive titles, including series, movies, documentaries, comedy specials and children’s content, Netflix will change its monthly subscription prices’, they said from the company to the Chilean BioBio website.
According to the new rate available, subscribers to the Basic plan which allows access to Netflix contents on a single screen, goes from $4590 (USD 6.3) to $4590 (USD 6.8). The Standard plan, which ables access on two screens at the same time and HD technology, raises from $5990 (USD 8.2) to $6990 (USD 9.6). Finally, the Premium plan, which allows access to Netflix titles on four screens and 4K technology, was at $7390 (USD 10.1) and its new value is $8990 (USD 12.4).
As reported by Chilean media La Tercera, the incrasement has already been implemented for subscribers who create a new account on the platform, and will be applied for new customers in the coming months. ‘Already subscribed clients will be notified by email, as well as through the Netflix app, one month before applying the new prices. The exact time depends on each specific subscriber billing’, La Tercera informed.
