Netflix continues betting in Mexico and premiers new original production

Netflix officially announced that ‘Oscuro Deseo’, its new original production made in Mexico, will be released next July 15th. The series is produced by the Mexican producer Argos Comunicacion and its filming process had started in May 2019.

The series focuses on a university college who falls in love with a man 15 years younger than her and who, for the first time in her life, will venture into an extramarital relationship that will change her marriage forever. ‘Oscuro Deseo’ was written by Leticia Lopez Margalli and directed by Pedro Ybarra and Kenya Marquez. Grace Ugalde, Veronica Velasco, Epigmenio Ibarra and Natasha Ybarra-Klor are its executive producers.

The announcement was made yesterday through the OTT’s official social networks,  but no mentions were made on the number of episodes it will have. Some of the actors who will star in ‘Oscuro Deseo’ are Mexicans Maite Perroni, Paulina Mateos and Esteban Soberanes,  Colombians Maria Fernanda Yepes and Carlos Torres, and others. In addition, ‘Oscuro Deseo’ marks is the second joint work between Netflix and Argos Comunicacion after the launch of ‘Ingobernable’, a series that premiered in 2017, which had two seasons.

Francisco Ramos, Netflix VP Latin American Originals, had confirmed the premiere of 14 Mexican productions on the platform for this year, including 9 series, 3 movies and 2 programs. Additionally, last year, Reed Hastings, CEO at Netflix, announced a USD 200 million investment in Mexico for content creation this year.
