The company NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises announced that it has created a new Hispanic streaming business unit, in order to boost the growth of Latin productions on all Telemundo and NBCUniversal’s platforms. The new unit will be in charge of developing more than 50 projects from 2022.
The leader of the new NBCUnoversal Telemundo Enterprises Hispanic streaming unit will be Romina Rosado, who will serve as the company’s new EVP & GM Hispanic Streaming, reporting directly to its Chairman, Beau Ferrari.
According to the information reported, in her new role, Rosado will help with the leadership of the recently launched Peacock in the development of Latin content for the platform, in order to achieve a greater and more effective connection with Latin audiences. She will also work with Telemundo Streaming Studios, a new unit focused on serving Latin streaming audiences.
‘Today, one in four US people under 35 years old is Hispanic and they are great content consumers in all languages and on all platforms’, said Rosado. ‘NBCUniversal, powered by Telemundo, is the only media company that can connect at scale on all screens with this audience, which is 100% Latin and 100% from the US’, she added.
On the other hand, at the end of March this year, and after launching Peacock in the US, NBCUniversal reported that it is evaluating the international launch of a new SVOD OTT, in order to continue its expansion process outside the US. According to the information reported by the specialized website Business Insider, Jeff Shell, the company’s CEO, has held conversations about the new streaming platform, which would be branded as ‘Universal’.
