‘Mulan’ to be free for Disney+ subscribers as of December

Last August 5th, during its Q2 2020 quarterly results report presentation, Disney confirmed that Disney+, its new SVOD OTT, will be launched in Latin America in November. That same day, the company announced the premiere of the movie ‘Mulan’ in PVOD format on the platform. The film will be released today in the US, for a payment of USD 29. Later, the international launch of the film was confirmed, at different prices according to each market.

The film will be available on Disney+ in PVOD format for three months – that is, until December 4th – and, from that date, it will be offered to all the SVOD OTT subscribers, at no additional cost. Originally, the premiere of ‘Mulan’ was scheduled to movie theaters on March 27th. However, due to the closure of movie theaters due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Disney decided to release the film directly on the platform.

Days after announcing the arrival of Disney+ at Latin America, Disney confirmed that the official date will be next November 17th. According to Diego Lerner, President of The Walt Disney Company Latin America, Disney + will be the exclusive place for a selection of films and series from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic, as well as exclusive original productions. Disney + will be the only OTT where all Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars movies will be available.
