Telecommunications company Telefonica -whose operations in Latin America are branded as ‘Movistar’-, has announced this Monday, March 1st, that it is offering symmetric FTTH internet speeds of 500 megabytes in Bogota. As reported by the company, in the Colombian capital there are already more than 300 thousand households with this offer available. Each installation includes a router and a repeater for greater WiFi coverage in large spaces. Movistar Colombia’s offer will initially be available in Bogota, Soacha and Chía, in plans for households, businesses and SMEs.

In fact, we are the only ones to offer fiber optics direct to the home in 32 cities in Colombia, which allows them to connect in several devices at the same time and in a reliable way, so that our clients can telework, study in virtual learning environments, entertain themselves and keep communicated with their relatives’, reported Fabian Hernandez, President & CEO at Movistar Colombia.
As of this last Monday, March 1st, new Movistar clients in Colombia will be able to access the new FTTH offer and pay it during the following month, with a 30% discount in the second and third months. The service allows Movistar Colombia’s FTTH clients to access Netflix as of 150 megabytes plans, and Amazon Prime Video for free during the first three months. In addition, those who access the new offer will be able to enjoy HBO’s premium channels for free for two months, and with a 50% discount for the two following months. The original value of the offer is COP 292,990 (USD 80) per month. With the discount applied during the first two months, the amount to be paid is COP 205,943 (USD 56).
Movistar Colombia is also launching an exclusive offer for companies in Bogota, Chia and Soacha with symmetric speeds of 500 megabytes of internet via FTTH, with a 50% discount during the first three months, in addition to being able to choose between digital options for free, including access to Movistar TV, with HD channels.
