Movistar Chile has officially announced this last Friday, October 9th, that it is working on the launch of ‘Los Prisioneros’, the company’s first original series in the country, whose filming process is scheduled to begin in January 2021. The series is part of Telefonica’s original production plan in Latin America, announced in early April 2019.
As reported from Movistar Chile, the new series will be titled ‘Los Prisioneros’ and will be set in the country in the mid-1980s, focusing on the so-called Chilean band. Currently, content is on a pre-production stage. The series will feature eight 30-minutes episodes, and its premiere is estimated for the second half of next year through Movistar Play, currently available in Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.
‘We are very proud to announce our first Chilean series, with a project that generates so much excitement on us’, said Joanna Lombardi, Head of Fiction for Latin America at Movistar. Cristian Schalscha, Consumer Business VP at Movistar Chile, reported that the company is ‘focused on delivering differential content together with great connectivity, and what better if we do it hand in hand with an icon for the country, such as ‘Los Prisioneros’, with their stories and songs. A series that will surely be widely attractive throughout Latin America”, he ended.
In 2019, Telefonica announced that its original series production plan in Latin America would take place in Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Mexico. Some of the titles already released and produced in those countries are ‘Un día eres joven’ (Peru); ‘El dia de mi suerte (Peru); ‘Manual de supervivencia’ (Argentina); and ‘Ruido capital’ (Colombia).
